FAQ: But the cast pictures show two socks??

Tess of Upper Hutt asks: How come the cast pictures in The Last Sock episode show two socks together? I thought only your missing socks were saving the Pegasus Galaxy?

Ah well, Tess. You see, even though my real missing socks may indeed be in the Pegasus Galaxy, inspiring lots of great stories, that doesn´t mean the remaining sock can necessarily act. Yes, acting is a special skill and here at the Sockgate Atlantis studios, we have hired only the best: good lookin´ knitted socks. And that makes sense: those handknitted socks never go near the Stargate, and I always know where they are (even if I can´t find my kids/husband/wallet). So, there are always two of them to appear in the cast pictures. Thanks for your question, Tess!

Stargate Atlantis: Season 4: The Last Sock

Sit comfy! Here is the last episode of season four (called ¨The Last Man¨) of Stargate Atlantis, as re-enacted by my missing socks. Click on the pictures to enlarge each one for easy reading. If you are already saying ¨huh?¨ and ¨socks??¨ and ¨Why does the Stargate look like a washing machine?¨ then read here and here first to find what this is all about.

Usually I´ll be doing episodes over several posts, but in this case, all of this episode is contained in this one post. Since it is all in one post, you can just read from top to bottom.

There are spoilers if you haven´t seen the episode before, but I kinda think you really need to have seen the episode to understand what is going on in the first place. So watch that first, ok?

In this episode, Dr Rodney Mackay was played by Monkey Sock (pattern by by Cookie A). Of course, our make-up crew had to spend hours to turn this very wonderful and easy to knit sock into the complex Rodney Mackay sock pattern as seen in this episode.

Previous Episode   This has been Season Four, Episode 20   Next Episode

About Stargate: The Stargate System

A little bit about how the Stargate system works in ¨Sockgate Atlantis¨, as we figure out what our laundry which has traveled through the stargates is up to.

FAQ: How did this all start?

How did this all start? Well, one day, after my sixth or seventh load of laundry, I looked at the washing machine and thought:

(you can do this using Colonel Sheppard´s voice, if you like)

¨You know...that kinda looks like a Stargate...

And then...

¨I wonder if that is where all our matching socks have gone??¨

As sometimes happens when a perfectly ordinary person is (I won´t use the word ¨stuck¨) at home with small children for long periods of time, my mind wandered, and I thought about what my missing socks might in fact be doing in the Pegasus Galaxy... and so, the Matching Sock blog was born. I will be drawing (hopefully quite frequently) Stargate Atlantis episodes, as re-enacted by my missing socks in the Pegasus Galaxy.

If you would like more info on how the stargates in Sockgate Atlantis work, click here. Just in case this is a little too wierd for you: really, I am just learning to draw and paint and have decided I would rather sketch things I am interested in, like say, Todd the Wraith, than sketch bowls of fruit etc. So, its not really that weird. I promise: I really don´t actually believe that my missing socks are running Atlantis and saving the Pegasus Galaxy. (Although, you know, in a parallel universe, maybe they are...)
